In cooperation with the Hamburg Institute of International Economics (HWWI) and the IMWF Institute for Management and Economic Research, the editorial team of stern magazine conducted a study to determine just what distinguishes companies that remain true to Germany as a location for development and production against the backdrop of a globalised economy.

Germany-based Hermetic-Pumpen donated a hermetically sealed refrigerant pump to the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Trondheim.

Short-term thermal treatment is used in the food industry for a wide range of products such as milk, mixed drinks or liquid foods. This treatment kills off any pathogenic micro-organisms and extends the shelf life of the products. Since high-pressure homogenization may not re-contaminate food products after thermal treatment, it must be ensured that all components being used have a hygienic or – even better – aseptic design, material selection and integration. To date, packed plunger pumps have primarily been relied upon as the type of pump technology installed in these applications.

The German manufacturer of canned motor pumps has been admitted to the coveted World Market Leader Index of the University of St. Gallen, as reported by the magazine WirtschaftsWoche at the end of January. Among the selected businesses were 450 companies that succeeded in becoming number one in their specific sector. Hermetic is listed as the 2018 Global Market Leader Champion in the ‟hermetically sealed centrifugal pumps (canned motor pumps)” sector.

The centrifugal pump of type MPCV has some exceptional properties. Due to the dry-running, self-regulating and hermetically sealed design, the tried-and-tested vertical pump does not require a minimum volume flow or a large static head. The 3-phase compatible and intrinsically safe special pump is now also available as an all-ceramic version (K-MPCV-AN).

Canned motor pump technology provides significant advantages and often constitutes a low-priced alternative to conventionally sealed pumps and magnetically coupled installations with external drive, for example due to the omission of long shafts or complex cooling and lubrication systems for mechanical seals.

Dr. Roland Krämer is retiring from the executive board of Hermetic-Pumpen GmbH come January 2017, after 46 years of service to the company.

During the modernisation of an ethane cracker plant, Hermetic-Pumpen GmbH supplied two 12-stage, sealless, canned motor pumps from the CAM 32/6 + 6 series. With this petrochemical plant, the provision of raw materials to the company-owned plastics manufacturers at the integrated site is ensured.

On the occasion of the Neftegaz 2014 in Moscow, an independent survey by the Russian Ministry of Energy selected Hermetic-Pumpen as the Russian oil and gas industry’s best centrifugal pump manufacturer for 2014. This is a confirmation of winning this award already in 2013.

In the existing chemical installation in a Wacker Chemie plant, the safety-related design of the relevant pump systems had to be thoroughly renovated. The requirements were extremely strict: Operating temperatures are normally around +170 °C, and can rise to a maximum of +200 °C.
