On 26th June 2019, the Voith subsidiary VolgaHydro opened ceremonially its new production plant in Balakovo, Russia. The new facility will produce and assemble components for hydropower plant turbines. Furthermore, the activities will include maintenance services and supplying equipment to large and small hydropower plants.
The technology group Voith has won an order to design, manufacture and supply the complete electromechanical equipment for the small hydropower plant Kabu 16 in Burundi.
oith attended the World Hydropower Congress in Paris May 14-16, 2019 – an event that brought together a global representation of the hydropower sector to advance sustainable hydropower and share solutions that support the Paris Climate Agreement and the Sustainable Development Goals. The congress was organized by the International Hydropower Association (IHA) in collaboration with more than 40 partner organizations, with support of the French Government.
Voith and TSP, a leading American technology service company, have launched a new joint venture – TSP OnCare Digital Assets Inc.
Voith has been awarded a contract to equip the Australian pumped storage power station Snowy 2.0, one of the largest pumped storage basins worldwide, with electrical and mechanical power plant components. The Future Generation Joint Venture (a Joint Venture between Salini Impregilo, Clough and Lane) and the Heidenheim-based technology group signed the contract at beginning of April. Operator of the plant is Snowy Hydro Ltd.
Voith is the general contractor for the modernization of the West African hydropower plant Nangbeto. The technology group has received an order from the Communtauté Electrique du Bénin (CEB), a Beninese-Togolese joint venture, to carry out extensive rehabilitation and modernization measures at the plant, which has been in operation for 35 years on the border between the two countries.
Technology group Voith has won an order for the manufacture, supply and commissioning of two StreamDivers for the small hydropower plant Gradiste in Macedonia. The company will also supervise installation and supply the gate valves.
Voith was recently awarded two contracts in China. The first contract involves the supply of four pump turbine generator units for the Xiamen Pumped Storage Plant. The second order is for large-scale pumps for the Wan Jia Zhai project, aiming to expand the existing water supply network in Bejing.

The technology group Voith starts its first influencer tour in the hydropower sector worldwide. Together with selected energy experts, the company visits various hydropower projects in three European countries between the 10th and the 16th of June.
