On May 11, 2018 technology group Voith opened its new East Africa Hub in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa. In doing so the company is highlighting its active contribution to the development of electricity generation from hydropower in East Africa.
Voith recently opened a new subsidiary in Sydney. The company is thus further expanding its presence in the region in order to tap the enormous potential offered by hydropower in this area.

Voith has won the order to modernize a motor-generator in the Vianden pumped storage plant in Luxembourg. The project covers the design, calculation, construction, delivery and assembly of one of the two most powerful machines in the facility.

Technology group Voith is now extensively modernizing the Wanjii small hydropower plant in Kenya, which has been in operation for more than 60 years.
For more than 80 years, Voith has been building and modernizing hydropower plants in Central Asia and the region around the Caspian Sea. To date the technology group has realized more than 150 projects, with many more at the planning stage or about to be implemented. Overall, Voith hydropower technology provides more than 95 million people in the region with a reliable electricity supply.
There are a large number of hydropower plants in Europe and North America that are more than 100 years old. Voith installed new technology in two of these plants in Sweden, Semla and Graninge, making them not only much more efficient but also more environmentally compatible.
In December 2017, Henan Tianchi Pumped Storage Co., Ltd. (Tianchi PSP) and Voith Hydro Shanghai Co., Ltd. (VHS) signed a contract to purchase equipment at the Henan Tianchi pumped storage plant site.
Technology Group Voith has successfully completed the modernization of the small Scottish hydroelectric power station Mucomir.
