ProMinent Process Diaphragm Pump

Environmental awareness, energy efficiency and safety are highlighted by the specific design features of individual products. The energy efficiency of Beta series solenoid metering pumps, for instance, has been significantly boosted by the use of innovative electronics. ProMinent, the market leader in the low pressure diaphragm metering pump sector, has strengthened its position as a provider of process metering pumps with the newly developed TriPower series process pumps, thus completing its product range with low, medium and high capacity peristaltic pumps.

No matter whether it’s metering pumps for low pressures, process pumps for high pressures, measurement and control technology, sensor systems, metering installations or water treatment plants, environmental compatibility, energy efficiency and safety are the central thread that runs through the entire product range of the Heidelberg-based manufacturer.

Environmental protection through minimum use of chemicals

In Hall 8, Stand D2-E6, at the ACHEMA trade fair ProMinent will exhibit a variety of products used in cooling water treatment applications to highlight environmental protection and energy efficiency aspects.

Cooling circuits are used throughout the world in many different applications. The primary aim is to condition the cooling water with special additives and inhibitors to reliably avoid damage in plant and equipment. This can be achieved with compact cooling tower control systems. The newly developed cooling tower and boiler control systems are characterised by high efficiency, user-friendly design, flexibility and high degree of accuracy. Visitors to the ACHEMA will find on Stand DE-E6 in Hall 8 the cooling tower control systems Dulcometer D1Cb, ProMcon and MultiFlex. Demineralisation functions as well as precision metering of the necessary additives effectively prevent corrosion and the formation of deposits in the cooling system. Preventing deposits from forming minimises efficiency losses. Continuous monitoring of all relevant parameters with sensors reliably prevents false metering in the system. Preventative maintenance of the sensors ensures uninterrupted monitoring is guaranteed at all times. Newly developed sensors have been redesigned in such a way as to facilitate their use in connection with contaminated service, process and waste water as well as with cooling water or water containing surfactants.

This is made possible by a dirt-immune non-porous diaphragm that separates the sensitive measuring electrodes from the medium.

A log book function, integrated in the controllers, enables early detection of any critical situation in the sensors.

The cooling water is conditioned with optimally matched controllers, sensors, metering pumps and disinfection installations in such a way that the use of chemicals is reduced to a bare minimum. The low chemical input rate and the consistently high efficiency of the heat exchanger reduce costs and protect the environment.

Minimum water and energy consumption

Water is pretreated in Dulcosmose ecoPro reverse osmosis systems to ensure it is already effectively demineralised before it enters the cooling water circuit.

Equipped with the latest generation of ultra low pressure diaphragms, these systems achieve maximum permeate output at low operating pressures, thus keeping investment and operating costs low.

Environmental protection with safety diaphragm and precision metering

The example of Sigma motor metering pumps and delta diaphragm metering pumps demonstrates how design-integrated safety features and precision metering can protect the environment. These features are not optional but rather come as standard with the pumps.

The design of the new multi-layer safety diaphragm for the Sigma series motor metering pumps ensures with absolute certainty that the metered medium remains in the pump head and cannot escape into the environment. Even in the event of a diaphragm rupture at no time can hazardous media escape into the environment. Moreover, thanks to a visual indicator or fault signal it is possible to respond immediately to any damage and to continue metering up to the next shift change without the need to interrupt the production process.

In contrast to conventional metering pumps that operate in pulses, the delta diaphragm metering pump works continuously optoDrive. The controlled magnetic drive unit, makes it possible to precisely adapt the temporal progression of the metered flow to the respective application. In addition to improved mixing properties, this substantially reduces the use of chemicals, thus ultimately benefitting the environment.

Added to this, the delta diaphragm metering pump is a true energy saver. Only as much energy that is required for pump operation is actually used.

Energy-efficient

In the same way, the new electronics in the Beta solenoid metering pump results in increased energy efficiency compared to the predecessor model. The durable Beta pump with all setting and control functions for modern water treatment and chemical feed applications will be presented for the first time at the ACHEMA trade fair. Compared to the predecessor model, it features a new pulse step down and step up function, thus enabling more accurate adaptation to external signal generators. This results in easier and more accurate adaptation of chemical usage to actual requirements and a substantial reduction in energy consumption. The Beta pump can be easily readjusted during operation.

Powerful and compact

With the addition of complete high performance pump series for highest pressures and metering rates as well as peristaltic pumps, ranging from low through medium to high delivery capacities, ProMinent presents itself at the ACHEMA 2009 as a comprehensive provider of metering pumps.

Process pumps

In addition to safety aspects, new standards are set in terms of size with the newly developed TriPower MF process diaphragm pump. The TriPower pump complies with the technical guidelines of the American Petrol Institute API 674, which is important for the oil and gas industry. Thanks to its integrated gear mechanism, it requires considerably less surface area than is otherwise required by conventional pumps with the same output rating. This makes it particularly suitable for all applications where space is confined, e.g. offshore purposes.

Peristaltic pumps

ProMinent has added to its range of peristaltic pumps for low, medium and high delivery rates. Thanks to the large delivery rate range from 56 to 25,000 l/h and the extensive variety of different tube materials they are used just as effectively in the laboratory as they are in industrial applications. While the pumps for low pressures up to 8 bar are equipped with roller technology, sliding blocks with a lubrication system are used for higher pressures up to 16 bar. The main advantages offered by peristaltic pumps include gentle medium delivery, dry-priming capability as well as their suitability for use together with viscous and abrasive media. The delivered medium only comes in contact with the tube and may have a liquid or gaseous consistency. Thanks to low-load operation, shear-sensitive products can also be delivered without problem.

Effective and efficient

In POLYMORE polymer preparation and metering systems, peristaltic pumps are used to deliver liquid polymer into a multi-zone mixing facility to the diluting water and are then processed into a homogeneous polymer solution. The inline preparation station presented by ProMinent at the ACHEMA 2009 is used to produce solutions of synthetic polyelectrolytes. Acting as flocculants they ensure rapid sedimentation of solid particles in turbid substances, improved clear phase in sewage treatment processes and a higher solid concentration in slurry thickening processes. The result is effective and efficient waste water treatment.

ProMinent always provides users with the right balance of product diversity, Metering technology, process engineering as well as measuring and control technology. A comprehensive range of innovative, future-proof products that combines efficiency, safety and environmental protection.
