ABB, the leading power and automation technology group, has introduced a new 2-pole motor to complete its high voltage modular induction range.

ABB has appointed Eric Elzvik, the chief financial officer of its Discrete Automation and Motion division, as Group CFO and member of the Executive Committee, succeeding Michel Demaré as previously announced. Elzvik will take up his new role on Feb. 1, 2013.

ABB has announced that Michel Demaré will step down as ABB’s Chief Financial Officer and member of the Executive Committee. He has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Board of Syngenta beginning in April 2013 and will in the future focus on his various Board roles.

ABB has appointed Prith Banerjee to its Executive Committee in the role of Chief Technology Officer. Banerjee, 51, will start midyear 2012 and will be based in Zurich.

ABB will upgrade the automation of the Aswan hydropower plants, making the power generation more reliable and efficient. The order was booked in the third quarter.

ABB reported strong order growth in the fourth quarter of 2010 and higher revenues driven by strong industrial demand for energy efficiency and improved productivity as well as recovering investments into power infrastructure.

ABB has appointed Frank Duggan to the Group Executive Committee as Head of Global Markets, a role that represents the company’s market and regional organizations at the company’s top management level. Duggan succeeds Michel Demaré in this position.

ABB has won an order from the Ministry of Electricity and Water in Kuwait for the construction and rehabilitation of the Mina Abdullah water pumping plant.
