ABB has appointed Christoph Sieder as head of Group Corporate Communications. Sieder, an Austrian national, is currently Senior Vice President Communications at specialty chemicals group, Lanxess AG, Cologne, Germany.

The Hydraulic Institute (HI) has entered a Training Partner Agreement with ABB, a leader in power and automation technologies and Baldor Electric Company, the leading North American manufacturer of industrial electric motors, drives and mechanical power transmission products. 

ABB officially inaugurated its fifth factory in Brazil in the presence of the Minister of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade, Mauro Borges, and the Governor of São Paulo Geraldo Alckmin. The new plant is part of a $200-million investment to expand ABB’s technology development and production capacity to serve increasing domestic demand from industries such as petrochemicals, pulp and paper, oil and gas, and mining, as well as energy.

ABB, the leading power and automation technology group, has appointed Chunyuan Gu as head of its business in China and the North Asia region as of Jan. 1, 2014.

ABB, the leading power and automation technology group, has appointed Claudio Facchin as Executive Committee member responsible for the Power Systems division, effective Dec. 1, 2013. He succeeds Brice Koch, who will leave ABB on Jan. 15, 2014 after an orderly transition, as previously announced.

Brice Koch, head of the Power Systems division at ABB has decided to leave ABB to become chief executive officer at Oerlikon, based in Pfaeffikon, Switzerland.

Pekka Tiitinen, the global head of ABB’s Drives and Controls business, has been appointed to ABB’s Executive Committee as head of the Discrete Automation and Motion (DM) division as of Sept. 15, 2013. He succeeds Ulrich Spiesshofer, who is taking over as ABB CEO.

The Board of ABB has unanimously appointed Ulrich Spiesshofer, the head of its Discrete Automation and Motion (DM) division, as Chief Executive Officer.

Chief Technology Officer, Prith Banerjee, who joined ABB in 2012, has decided to leave ABB for family reasons.

ABB Chief Executive Officer Joe Hogan has decided to leave ABB for private reasons. A date for his departure has not yet been decided. Hogan will continue to lead ABB until a successor is announced. He is committed to a smooth transition.
