The HyCon GoHybrid, launched to the market in May 2021, is a hydraulic unit for turbine governors in hydropower. Due to the significantly increased energy efficiency and low oil volumes, the GoHybrid enjoys high recognition, especially in Northern and Central Europe, where these features are becoming increasingly important.

Voith Hydro’s OnCare.Diagnostic Professional has proven itself at Landsvirkjun’s Budarhals power station in the south of Iceland, providing early detection of anomalies and thereby enabling optimal plant uptime. The solution is part of Voith Hydro’s ever-evolving diagnostic services portfolio.

On March 1, 2022, following receipt of all the necessary official approvals, Voith successfully completed the acquisition of the remaining shares in Voith Hydro from its former joint venture partner Siemens Energy. On October 21, 2021, the technology group and its longstanding partner Siemens Energy reached an agreement on Voith taking over the remaining 35 percent stake in the former Voith Siemens Hydro Power Generation GmbH & Co. KG.

In the end of last year, Voith Hydro acquired a majority shareholding of Green Highland Renewables (GHR). With this step the company expands its business in the field of maintenance as well as operation and development of hydropower facilities.

In the future, Voith Group will be the sole owner of the Voith Hydro Group Division, which previously was operated as a joint venture with Siemens Energy. The technology group and the long-term partner Siemens Energy came to a mutual agreement on a buy-out of the remaining 35 percent stake in the former Voith Siemens Hydro Power Generation GmbH & Co. KG.

Voith Hydro has won the order to upgrade the power units from the Coo I section at Belgium’s largest pumped storage power plant, Coo-Trois-Ponts. The project will take a period of four years and will bring an increase in plant capacity of 79 MW and performance.

Voith was awarded a B- rating for the first time by the independent rating agency ISS ESG and, together with SKF Group and Johnson Controls, is one of the three best companies within the plant and mechanical engineering sector worldwide. This was the first time since 2016 that the rating was improved from C+ to B-.

Voith acquired a majority share in the Croatian Small Hydro company Sintaksa, specialized in products and services for electromechanical and automation systems. The agreement took place on July 31, 2020 in Zagreb, Croatia.

In the first six months (October 2020 to the end of March 2021) of the current financial year 2020/2021, the Voith Group continued to develop positively, despite a very challenging market environment partly due to the negative effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
