The HiScroll series from Pfeiffer Vacuum consists of three dry and hermetically sealed scroll pumps with a nominal pumping speed of 6 – 20 m³/h. Pfeiffer Vacuum introduces the first rotary vane pump for mass spectrometry with a hermetically sealed pump housing. The SmartVane serves as a backing pump for mass spectrometers (ICP-MS, LC/MS), for applications in environmental and food analytics, as well as in pharmaceutical and clinical analytics.

“With special centrifugal pumps and the foundation of Paul Bungartz GmbH & Co. KG in 1947, my grandfather laid the foundation for our company,” says Dipl.-Ing. Frank Bungartz, who is the third generation to manage the company.

At a nickel-cobalt mine in Papua New Guinea, until the end of 2017 cost-optimized diaphragm pumps from a regional manufacturer were used to pump 98 percent sulfuric acid. Sulfuric acid is required for the extraction of nickel from laterite. However, as the units previously used had a high failure rate and long downtimes, those responsible decided to replace them with new models.
