Reliability, cost effectiveness, ease of use and simple maintenance were among the key reasons why Southern Water chose an innovative pressure sewer system (PSS) from NOV Mono, to replace ageing septic tanks for over 900 houses in the community of Lauderdale, Australia.

One of the UK’s most advanced cement production facilities has improved its maintenance operations and safety levels by installing new equipment from Nov Mono. Hanson Cement has achieved these improvements by adding a duty/standby Mono Munchpump package to the sewage handling operations at its Padeswood plant in Mold, North Wales.

The largest runner ever produced by Voith Hydro in Latin America was shipped to the hydropower plant Belo Monte. A 12-axle trailer left Voith Hydro’s manufacturing shop in Manaus, Brazil, transporting a 320 ton runner, impressive for its size – 8.5 meters in diameter and 5 meters tall –, the runner is heading to the Belo Monte hydropower plant.

Xylem has announced an exclusive agreement with Nuove Energie to distribute a cutting-edge tertiary disk filter system for wastewater reuse and discharge requirements in the United States and Canada.

At the Kwanza river in the Northern Kwanza province of Angola, the hydroelectric power plant Lauca is being constructed. The project is coordinated by GAMEK (“Gabinete de Aproveitamento do Médio Kwanza”), the governmental institution which is responsible for the utilization of the Kwanza ressources.

Mapal Green Energy, developers of the innovative floating fine bubble aeration system for wastewater treatment has announced a technology link up with Xylem Water Solutions.

Xylem has won a $1 million contract to supply wastewater treatment technology to two new plants in the city of Bergen in Norway. Xylem will supply Flygt N3000 submersible pumps, Flygt 4600 series mixers, a Sanitaire Silver Series II aeration system and high efficiency screw blowers as part of a project to improve the quality of wastewater treatment in the city.

Clean water is in short supply in Singapore and therefore innovative thinking is necessary, as the city-state ensures its access to the scarce resource. Grundfos has received a good 1.2 million euro to sophisticate a brand new technology in which the waste water is treated through sludge. The cleansed water can help ease the strain on the water resources in the area.

The Meyer Werft Germany, Meyer Turku, STX France, and Fincantieri shipyards have all placed orders with Wärtsilä for the supply of fresh water generators to a total of seven cruise ships. The orders were placed between September and November 2014. Delivery of the Wärtsilä systems is scheduled to commence in May 2015 and will be completed by autumn 2017.
