HI & PSM Announce Dates for Mechanical Seals 4-Part Webinar Series

24.07.2013

The Hydraulic Institute and Pump Systems Matter, in collaboration with the Fluid Sealing Association, have announced the second Mechanical Seals webinar series of 2013.

The series will begin on Thursday, September 5, 2013. A complimentary webinar entitled Sealing Systems Energy Efficiency will be held on Thursday, August 15, 2013 at 1:00pm EDT.

Series participants will be led by and have access to industry-leading experts in a non-commercial training forum. Participants also receive 4 professional development hour (PDH) credits upon completion of the series.

The following is a schedule for the upcoming Mechanical Seals Webinar Series:

Session 1: September 5, 2013, 1:00-2:00pm EDT - Types & Operating Principles.

Presenter: Michael Huebner, Flowserve

Session 1 covers how mechanical seals work and gives an overview of the most common seal types. The objectives are to give participants a good understanding of how leakage, friction and wear of the materials interact and why many different seal types are used in pumps, agitators, and compressors.

Session 2: September 12, 2013, 1:00-2:00pm EDT - Construction and Design.

Presenter: Mike Huebner, Flowserve

Different design features used in common seals are discussed in session 2. This session will explain the strengths and weaknesses of various design options and the impact of design features on seal performance. Mike will discuss seal faces, springs, seal glands, and more.

Session 3: September 19, 2013, 1:00-2:00pm EDT - Installation, Connections, & Commissioning.

Presenter: Eric Vanhie, EagleBurgmann Mechanical Seals

Session 3 covers mechanical seals used in rotary equipment, basic preparation and standards as well as support system piping plans that result in longer seal life.

Session 4: September 26, 2013, 1:00-2:00pm EDT - Seal Environment and Failure Analysis.

Presenter: Henri Azibert, A.W. Chesterton Company

Session 4 covers how to improve material selection, environmental controls, and installation and operating procedures.

To register for the series, visit the mechanical seals webinar section at the HI eStore. Registration is available for the series or for individual sessions. The series fee is $295.00. Individual sessions are $100.00 each. As always, HI members receive 25% off the regular registration fee.

Registration for the complimentary webinar on sealing systems energy efficiency is also available now.

Patented Sealing Solution to Improve Drinking Water

14.08.2023 -

In appliances used for water purification and carbonated water, the valve of a carbon dioxide cartridge and the pressure-reducing valve on the device itself must be joined with a secure seal. Now, Freudenberg Sealing Technologies has developed a patented, high-performance polyurethane seal for a customer that has a specific geometry that not only accommodates different valve dimensions on the various gas cartridges, but also offers high impermeability under long-lasting pressure.
