Upgrades may be more economical than purchasing new pumps given the satisfactory new condition of your casing, piping, and foundation. Upgrades are performed on pumps of any manufacture, including Flowserve (Byron Jackson, United, Wilson Snyder), IDP (Pacific, Worthington, Ingersoll Rand), Sulzer (Bingham), and of course, Goulds. Standard upgrades to 8 th Edition will include a hydraulic re- rate and converting the rotor and bearing bracket. Customers will benefit by reduced energy consumption and vibration while increasing the unit’s reliability. Back to back duplex bearings and larger shafts result in lower L 3 /D 4 ratios. The upgraded seal chamber allows the use of 682 cartridge or lesser seals to further lower operating costs.
