A leading paper and packaging manufacturer in Australia was using Air-Operated Double Diaphragm pumps to deliver 4-colour ink to its printers. The on-site Air-Operated Double Diaphragm pumps were using considerable amounts of compressed air and required constant maintenance due to the wearable parts (seals and valves).

Colfax Corporation announced that Matthew L. Trerotola, formerly an Executive Vice President at DuPont, has been named Chief Executive Officer and a Director of Colfax, effective July 24, 2015. He succeeds Steven E. Simms, who will assist in the transition and will continue to serve on the Colfax Board.

A Mono Compact C progressing cavity pump provided by NOV has been specified as a replacement for a previous Mono pump that had operated without any problems for over 30 years. The new pump is being used in a fertilizer production process by GrowHow – a leading UK fertilizer manufacturer, and a major supplier to the chemical process industry.

Aseptic diaphragm valves are frequently used to control sterile applications. However, small volumes can only be controlled with an inadequate level of accuracy, or not at all. Gemü has now developed the Gemü 567 valve in order to solve this problem.

On July 28, 2015, Sulzer acquired the business of Expert International Pompe Service (EIPS) located in Casablanca, Morocco. Through this acquisition, Sulzer expands its footprint in North Africa. EIPS achieved revenues just below CHF one million in 2014. The integration of the company will start immediately.

Ebara Corporation shipped one of the world’s largest Boiler Feed Water pumps to supercritical power plants* in China. These are the first single pumps capable of supplying water to a boiler of a 1,000MW power plant.

Pentair announced second quarter 2015 sales of $1.7 billion. Sales were down 9 percent compared to sales for the same period last year. Adjusted second quarter 2015 earnings per diluted share from continuing operations (“EPS”) were $0.96, down 6 percent from adjusted EPS of $1.02 in the second quarter of last year.

Industrial chemistry defines all areas of life in the modern world, from the basic materials for pharmaceuticals to new materials for mechanical engineering. And the range of media that has to be processed in chemical plants for all those applications is just as broad. For the pump systems that are used, such diversity represents an enormous challenge, as the systems have to convey abrasive, sheer-sensitive and hazardous materials reliably in all cases.
