Xylem’s Godwin Site Recognised at the EEF Future Manufacturing Awards 2015

14.01.2016

Xylem’s Godwin site in Quenington, UK, has recently been recognised in two award categories at the 2015 Engineering Employers’ Federation (EEF) Future Manufacturing Regional Awards.

The EEF Future Manufacturing Awards are the most established and respected regional and national awards recognising esteemed manufacturing successes with hundreds of prestigious engineering companies across the UK entering the awards annually.

Xylem’s Godwin site was honoured as runner-up for the South West UK region in two categories; ‘Developing People’ and ‘Partnership with Education’. The ’Developing People’ Award acknowledges excellence in employee engagement, talent development and human resource management, while the ‘Partnership with Education’ Award recognises efforts to promote engineering and manufacturing careers through collaboration with education providers.

Bernadette Christmas, HR Manager, Xylem said, “At Xylem we recognise that focused development of our people is crucial to our ongoing success. We work hard to offer rewarding and fulfilling careers for our employees. This includes promoting and encouraging ‘self’ and ‘supported’ learning which, by its very nature, delivers some of the most powerful benefits to both employees and the business, building confidence and nurturing talent for greater performance output. We are so proud to have our efforts and achievements recognised by our partners at the EEF.”

To address the recognised shortages in engineering nationally, Xylem’s Quenington site has developed formalised apprenticeship and professional engineering training schemes which are both accredited by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE). These schemes provide aspiring engineers with essential hands-on experience to progress their engineering profession up to and including Chartered status.

The EEF is the voice of UK manufacturing and engineering and a leading provider of business support. The organisation aims to help manufacturing industry to thrive and compete effectively both locally and on a global scale.
