Goulds Pumps Golden Eagle Award Given to Three Marketing Professionals

12.02.2004

Three Goulds Pumps Water Technologies Division marketing professionals – a regional sales manager and two product specialists – recently received one of the company’s most prestigious honors. The three were named winners of the Golden Eagle Award for their sales and marketing accomplishments.

In winning the annual award, Victoria Schmidt, Wayne Markus and Van Johnson became the 45th, 46th and 47th members of an elite group of Goulds Pumps professionals who have been similarly honored.

Now in its 20th year, the Golden Eagle Award is given to individuals with at least 10 years sales, marketing and advertising experience with the company, and whose sales or service performance on the company’s behalf exceeds expectations.

“The latest candidates went beyond the norm this past year, exhibiting stellar efforts in the face of an overall industry that – despite the recent upturn – was stagnant at best,” said Dennis Coggins, Vice President of Sales for Goulds Pumps, ITT Industries – himself a 1988 Golden Eagle award winner.

In 2002, Victoria Schmidt – a Regional Sales Manager representing the Latin American market – formally launched the company’s popular Goulds Professional Dealer Association (GPDA) program for dealers and distributors in Puerto Rico, Mexico and Costa Rica. She also organized and successfully conducted the company’s first-ever training school for international distributors, and helped launch a Goulds- branded stainless steel jet pump.

Ms. Schmidt began her career at Goulds Pumps right out of Clarkson University in 1992, where she received a BS degree in Interdisciplinary Engineering and Management.

Wayne Markus, a Product Specialist since 1995, completed work on a project team that re-designed a coal bed methane (CBM) pump leading up to a 39% increase in CBM pump sales. An employee since 1978, Mr. Markus also has served as a warehouse manager and sales rep for the company.

Van Johnson has been with the company in various capacities since 1966. As a Product Specialist, he has achieved significant increases in sales of Goulds Pumps AquavarTM pump controllers and turbine pumps. He is a 1979 graduate of Rochester Institute of Technology, where he received a BS degree in Business Administration.

ITT Industries, Inc. supplies advanced technology products and services in key markets including electronic interconnects and switches; defense communications; opto-electronics; information technology; fluid and water management; and other specialty products and services. Headquartered in White Plains, NY, the company generated over $5 billion in 2002 sales. In addition to the New York Stock Exchange, the company is traded on the Midwest, Pacific, London and Frankfurt exchanges.
