EBARA to Acquire Mitsubishi Electric’s Three-Phase Motor Business

18.11.2025
EBARA Corporation and Mitsubishi Electric Corporation announce that they have reached an agreement on November 12, 2025, for the transfer of the following assets from Mitsubishi Electric to EBARA.

The business assets planned for transfer include:

  • The three-phase and Interior Permanent Magnet (IPM) motor businesses, together with the production facilities and lines at Mitsubishi Electric’s Shinshiro Factory, a satellite site of its Nagoya Works in Shinshiro City, Aichi
Prefecture. (Nagoya Works remains Mitsubishi Electric’s principal factory automation (FA) manufacturing campus and will continue to develop and produce a wide range of FA control equipment.)
  • The industrial motor, pump, and die casting businesses operated by Mitsubishi Electric's Thai subsidiary, Mitsubishi Electric Automation (Thailand) Co., Ltd.

The parties plan to complete the transfer of assets, rights, and obligations related to the said businesses to EBARA during 2026, subject to the necessary reviews and approvals by the relevant authorities.
Mitsubishi Electric’s Nagoya Works Shinshiro Factory also produces main spindle motors and servo motors for Computer Numerical Control (CNC) systems. These businesses are not part of the transfer to EBARA; however, Mitsubishi Electric will continue manufacturing these products at Shinshiro using the portion of the facility retained by Mitsubishi Electric.

Through this business transfer, EBARA will acquire assets, including production facilities in Japan and Thailand for motors, crucial components of industrial machinery, as well as design and development capabilities and technical know-how. This will accelerate EBARA's growth in the global market and contribute to the realization of a decarbonized society by providing significant energy-saving solutions that integrate motor and rotation control technologies.

Mitsubishi Electric will concentrate its management resources on advancing its FA Digital Solution business and its core components businesses, including programmable controllers, servos, and CNC systems, with a view to strengthening and expanding the FA Systems business.

1. Background
Motors play a crucial role as the power source for reliably operating industrial machinery such as pumps and blowers. Motors are widely used in daily life and, according to some studies, account for approximately 55% of Japan’s total electricity consumption.

In recent years, as global decarbonization efforts accelerate, the demand for energy-saving solutions for industrial machinery, including pumps, has further intensified.

EBARA's Building Service & Industrial Company leverages its expertise in fluid technology, rotating machinery technology, and thermal control technology, accumulated over many years, to manufacture, sell, and service pumps, blowers, and refrigeration equipment for building markets (such as commercial buildings and condominiums) and industrial facility markets (such as factories and data centers).
In recent years, EBARA has been expanding its product offerings to meet increasing energy-saving needs, including pumps equipped with built-in inverter PM motors.

EBARA is also committed to increasing its global business scale; in Thailand, through its group company, EBARA (THAILAND) LIMITED, it has been supplying equipment, including pumps, cooling towers, and chillers, for over 30 years.
Mitsubishi Electric's Nagoya Works Shinshiro Factory’s three-phase motor business has built on its proprietary high-efficiency technology developed over many years, achieving IE5 efficiency class with the RF-SR type MELSUSMO. Its comprehensive product lineup meets Japan's Top Runner program as well as other high-efficiency regulations around the world, and is supported by an extensive sales network across Japan that continues to drive growth in the three-phase motor business.

Under these circumstances, both companies have decided on the business transfer to further drive the growth of the three-phase motor business and promote highvalue-added solutions. EBARA is dedicated to preserving the technological and asset value of this business while pursuing targeted investments to drive productivity
gains and operational synergies.
