As part of the international comparative study “AI-driven Product Development”, the Wilo Group has been recognised as an outstanding practical example of the successful use of artificial intelligence in product development. The study, conducted by the Laboratory for Machine Tools and Production Engineering (WZL) at RWTH Aachen University and the Complexity Management Academy, examined the use of AI in product development in over 150 companies.

The new Bürkert production site in Pune, India, was officially opened at a festive inauguration on 16 October 2024. The demand for oligonucleotide-based drugs is constantly increasing. To meet the increased demand, pump and system manufacturer LEWA is supplying pharmaceutical supplier Bachem with a new inline dilution system to expand production capacities at the company’s main site in Bubendorf (Switzerland) in the company’s largest production building to date. The system enables precise and flexible dosing of dilution solutions.

After 18 years of successful work, Dr. Andreas Kämpf left the Steinhagen-based pump manufacturer at the end of October. With his creativity and his instinct for attention-grabbing campaigns, as well as his openness to new communication channels and technologies, he has contributed significantly to the development and success of the brand and the company. Kämpf symbolically passed the well-known U3K pump on as a baton to his successor Gunnar Wippersteg.

A Bredel peristaltic hose pump has shown the ideal qualities for transferring thickened sludge in the production of biogas for Scheldestromen water board (Waterschap Scheldestromen) in the Netherlands. A Bredel 65 hose pump is transferring polymer-thickened sludge of 6 to 8% to tanks for fermentation at Scheldestromen water board’s treatment plant in Terneuzen, Zeeland.

On October 17, WEG inaugurated its new manufacturing site in Santo Tirso, Portugal, marking an important step in its European expansion strategy. With a structure spanning over 100,000 square meters, 45,000 of which are covered, this new facility reinforces WEG’s leadership in the industrial manufacturing sector and increases its competitiveness in the region.

The Wilo Group brought together its top management for the 29th time at the International Meeting of General Managers (IMGM). This year’s management conference, which took place at the recently inaugurated Networking Cube at the Wilopark in Dortmund, focussed on the multinational technology group’s overarching, Group-wide sustainability strategy and expanding Wilo’s successful region-for-region strategy.
