He succeeds Eckard Eberle (57 years old), who had been responsible for Process Automation at Siemens since 2014. "Eckard Eberle has set outstanding milestones in process automation at Siemens," says Lorenz. "My focus will be on how we best leverage digital transformation for our customers. At the same time, our goal must be to make the best use of our resources and bridge the gap between innovation and sustainability."

On October 1, 2022, Eberle joined Siemens Global Business Services as CEO after eight years as CEO for Process Automation at Siemens. "After many exciting years in the process industry, I am looking forward to a new challenge at Siemens. Axel Lorenz brings everything to successfully shape the future of process automation," said Eberle.

Since joining Siemens in 1992, Axel Lorenz has gained many years of experience in the automation business, including as Sales Manager of the Process Automation Business Group and several as General Manager for the Automation and Engineering Business Segment, which is responsible for process control technology. Most recently, his focus was on the digitalization of production and the dovetailing of IT with the manufacturing level - particularly in the area of Industrial Edge. Axel Lorenz started his professional career in 1992 as an engineer for project planning and commissioning in the then Siemens Engineering and Software Department at the Berlin branch. Born in Berlin, he studied electrical engineering at the Berlin University of Applied Sciences.
