Particle detectors on the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN, the European Laboratory for Particle Physics, will be kept cool using LEWA diaphragm metering pumps. The specially modified LEWA pumps will constantly feed liquid carbon dioxide (CO2) into the detectors’ cooling circuit at temperatures as low as -55 °C.
