Digital Transformation Poses Dangers and Opportunities

The sixth British Water Data Conference, kicked off with a warning from keynote speaker Oliver Grieveson on the “dangers and opportunities” around digital transformation. The event took place at the Royal College of Pathology in London, but the body of water infrastructure was the one under examination on this occasion, not least, the health of the instrumentation monitoring some 375,000 combined sewage and stormwater overflows (CSOs) in the UK wastewater network.

EQS: Full Ban of PFAS Needed to Meet Environmental Thresholds

EurEau welcomes the European Commission’s proposals for the revised Water Framework Directive (WFD), Environmental Quality Standards Directive (EQSD) and Groundwater Directive (GWD), which should reduce the presence of the most worrying aquatic pollutants or groups of pollutants in the aquatic environment and lead to the better protection of precious drinking water resources.

New Ambitions for Europe’s Waste Water Sector

EurEau gives a cautious welcome to legislative proposal of the Urban Waste Water Treatment Directive (UWWTD). The proposal encourages the waste water sector to be more climate and energy neutral and to go further on treatment. However, it is a lukewarm endorsement of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) schemes.
