1.Background

Kurume City is the third most populated city in Fukuoka Prefecture and has been urbanizing for about 40 years. It is now a lively area with railways, major roads, and various companies and universities. As the climate continues to change, this area has grown more prone to the risk of flooding due to heavy rainfall. The role of the facility in draining rainwater into the risk of flooding in the area has increased due to factors such as heavy rainfall. The role of the facility in draining rainwater into the Chikugo River, a Class A river system, has become increasingly important.

2. Overview

With the installation of this large pump, the drainage capacity of the facility has increased by approximately 1.2 times, reaching a drainage capacity of 34 tons per second.
