ITT Lowara Launches PLM High Efficiency Motors in Vertical Multistage Pump Ranges

31.03.2008

The introduction of Lowara’s new high efficiency motors for its vertical multistage pumps is set to transform the cost-effectiveness and performance of fluid delivery.

Lowara – a leading manufacturer of water pumps and part of ITT Corporation – has developed the PLM range of motors to power a wide range of pumping needs in commercial and residential environments.

The electric PLM motors have efficiency values that fall within the range normally referred to as efficiency 1 and will make the Lowara pump ranges among the leading performers in every class.

The technology significantly reduces the power consumption of the pumps making them a greener as well as economical choice, while also providing improved operational efficiency.

A single 15kW pump operating for 12 hours a day could save 1857kWh a year with the new PLM motor – the equivalent to powering the average European home for a month! The motor quality and reliability is actually higher than in previous equivalent motors, with less heating within the motor to maximise operational life and reduced noise.

The PLM motors are now available on a range of Lowara multistage pumps for a wide range of uses from water distribution and HVAC to irrigation and industrial applications. The ranges include the SV series of vertical stainless steel multipurpose pumps with a head up to 330m and delivery up to 120m3h; Lowara’s SVI immersible vertical stainless steel pumps which have a head of up to 247m and deliver up to 72m3h; and Lowara’s TDB - TDV series of vertical pumps which have a head of up to 500m and deliver 340m3h.

In combination with the Hydrovar variable speed controller, the efficiency can be even more dramatically improved. Hydrovar can control up to 8 pumps with intelligent drive, all from a single pump-mounted unit, to manage motor speed and match pump performance to a range of fluid applications. This will provide reduced power consumption for cost savings and environmental benefits.
