DAB Publishes First Sustainability Report: Operational Emissions Down 62 Percent

23.10.2026
According to its first Sustainability Report, around 99% of DAB Group's carbon footprint is associated with the use of its pumps after they have been sold. The report also shows that the manufacturer has reduced its Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 62% compared with 2020, exceeding its own 2030 target of 50% five years ahead of schedule.

DAB Pumps is highlighting the importance of whole-life pump efficiency after its own figures showed that approximately 99% of the Group’s carbon footprint is associated with the use of its products after they have been sold.

The finding is published in DAB Group’s first Sustainability Report, which also states that the pump manufacturer has already exceeded its 2030 target for reducing Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions five years ahead of schedule.

DAB had committed to reducing combined Scope 1 and market-based Scope 2 emissions by 50% by 2030 against a 2020 baseline. By the end of 2025, these emissions had fallen by 62%, from 8,332 tonnes of CO2e in 2020 to 3,143 tonnes.

For the UK building services sector, DAB says the findings reinforce the importance of looking beyond the environmental impact of manufacturing and considering the energy consumed by pumping systems throughout their operational life.

Adam Ferneyhough, Country Director for the UK & Ireland at DAB Pumps, said: “Pumps can remain in operation for many years, so the energy they consume over their lifetime can significantly outweigh the impact associated with manufacturing them in the first place. For installers, specifiers and building operators, that puts greater emphasis on selecting efficient products, correctly sizing systems and making use of controls and monitoring to ensure pumps continue to operate as efficiently as possible. The figures in our first Sustainability Report demonstrate the progress being made within our own operations, but they also reinforce where the biggest opportunity lies. Improving the efficiency of products throughout their working life has the potential to make a much greater difference.”

According to the report, DAB’s Scope 3 emissions associated with the use of sold products fell by 15% between 2024 and 2025. DAB attributes this in part to a more energy-efficient product portfolio. Its H2D ecosystem grew to 25,200 connected pumps, up 85% year-on-year. The system uses real-time monitoring and is designed to help identify leaks, inefficiencies and potential failures.

DAB also reports changes within its own operations. Photovoltaics now generate around 22% of electricity used at its production sites, while total water withdrawal fell 14% in 2025 and the amount of water recovered and reused increased by 119%.

Adam added: “As a business focused on the movement and management of water, we have a responsibility to consider how both water and energy are used throughout our operations and by the systems we put into the market. Sustainability isn’t a single target that can be reached and ticked off. The challenge is to keep improving how products are designed, manufactured, installed, operated and maintained, and to make it easier for the industry and its customers to use resources more efficiently.”

The Sustainability Report is the Group’s first and has been prepared voluntarily with reference to the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS). It covers DAB’s environmental, social and governance performance and establishes a framework for measuring future progress.
