Wasser Berlin International 2017 – Career Day for Pupils, Trainees and Students on 31 March
As an entrepreneur it is impossible to succeed without specialists who are qualified and motivated. For companies in the water industry the shortage of young and skilled workers is a growing problem, while at the same time many school and university students are in search of inspiring careers and lucrative job opportunities.
From 28 to 31 March Wasser Berlin International will be hosting a platform that brings both sides together on the Berlin Exhibition Grounds.
Fascinating: the Pipeline Construction Challenge Berlin
Two years ago the first Pipeline Construction Challenge was a major highlight for the public, and this year, in Hall 1.2, it will be taking place on all four days of the trade fair. Once again, the challenge gives gas and water industry trainees an opportunity to show visitors and jobseekers how specialist skills, modern materials and innovative pipe-laying techniques are all interlinked on a pipeline construction site. A total of 16 teams will attempt to complete gas and water distribution tasks while conforming to standard rules. The organisers of the challenge are the Pipeline Association (rbv) and the German Technical and Scientific Association for Gas and Water (DVGW).
Clever: the Career Day on 31 March
On Friday, 31 March the focus of the Career Day will be on the employees of tomorrow. Over the course of an entire day pupils, students and professionals will be able to meet company representatives in person. Experienced staff from the companies’ personnel departments will await them on the stands to provide individual and detailed information on various types of jobs, including in the skilled trades, engineering and commerce. Jobseekers should look out for the blue-coloured “thumbs up“ sign which indicates the stands of those companies and associations with specific information on training, work experience and careers. Upon presentation of a valid student ID students can visit the trade fair on the Career Day at the reduced rate of ten euros. An unlimited pass for students costs 15 euros. More information on the Career Day can be found on the website.
Informative: ’Career opportunities in the water industry’ at the congress
On Friday from 10 a.m. to 12.40 p.m. the congress will have information on job prospects and the current employment situation in the industry. At the Congress Forum in Hall 2.2, under the heading of ’Career opportunities in the water industry’, companies and associations will describe their strategies and experiences trying to secure specialists.
International: DWA Young Water Professionals‘ Programme
850 young engineers from over 60 nations to date is the proud figure boasted by the Young Water Professionals‘ Programme of the German Association for Water, Wastewater and Waste (DWA). This year, the seven-day programme of excursions and seminars will once again give 32 up-and-coming engineers from abroad the opportunity to visit the trade fair, find out about German and international expertise, get to know companies and meet with their peers.
Located next to the stand of DWA in Hall 3.2, the Young Water Professionals Lounge is the place to head for jobseekers. The job centre of DWA, also in Hall 3.2, is where graduates can find out about current vacancies. More information on the Water Professionals‘ Programme can be found on the website.
Interactive: WASsERLEBEN, the interactive show for the public
At WASsERLEBEN, the interactive show for the public, pupils, young people and interested adults can find out a lot of things about water, our vital source of life. This interactive event in Hall 6.2 will run on the same dates and in the same place as the trade fair. This is where visitors can conduct their own experiments, try out their skills and gain a practical insight into water industry careers. For pupils admission to WASsERLEBEN costs three euros. Tickets for school classes (maximum of 30 children and two accompanying adults) cost 35 euros, and are only available in advance over the internet.
