Sulzer Expands Presence in India to Enhance Support for Growing Energy Sector
Offering state-of-the-art retrofit, repair, and service solutions for pumps, turbomachinery and electromechanical equipment, the Chennai and Vadodara facilities serve the oil and gas, power generation and broader energy sectors to ensure reliable and efficient performance of essential industries. The two service centers focus on delivering innovative solutions that extend the lifecycles of existing equipment and help modernize aging infrastructure. These efforts are crucial to enabling India’s energy security and transition goals.
Strategically located in the Manjusar GIDC Industrial Hub in Gujarat, the Vadodara Service Centre (VSC) is Sulzer’s first facility equipped to support turbomachinery in India, extending refurbishment services for steam and gas turbines, process gas compressor repairs and retrofits. In addition to faster, more collaborative support with significantly improved response times and minimal equipment downtime, the new capabilities enable industries to modernize aging equipment for new operational requirements without the need for entirely new systems. VSC also utilizes advanced 3D-scanning, CNC machining, and production technology for parts development to both help extend the lifecycle of existing equipment and support local customers in achieving their decarbonization objectives.
The Chennai Service Centre (CSC) complements the Vadodara facility by offering specialised pump repairs, dynamic rotor balancing, precision measuring tools and engineered services to customers in southern India, home to the country’s second-largest industrial belt.
Unnadha Raja, Head of Sulzer Services, India, commented on the expansion: "We specialize in advanced maintenance solutions to upgrade infrastructure efficiently and sustainably. By enhancing our ability to deliver comprehensive solutions quickly, ultimately enabling reduced energy consumption and a lower carbon footprint, this investment underscores our commitment to supporting India's energy sectors.”
