Region´s Continuing Dynamism Celebrated as OTC Asia 2016 Comes to a Close

The Offshore Technology Conference Asia (OTC Asia) 2016 closed on a successful note, with over 20,000 industry executives and technical professionals from 70 countries having enjoyed a variety of high-level sessions, multi-stream technical programme and large exhibition. The event drew speakers from the highest echelons of government, operators, service providers, advisory and research firms and academia.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Datuk Wan Zulkiflee Wan Ariffin, OTC Asia Advisory Committee Chairman, and President and Group Chief Executive Officer of Petronas extended his appreciation to all the committee members, speakers, delegates, exhibitors, students and volunteers - as well as sponsors and supporters - for making the second edition of OTC Asia a resounding success.

He commented, "OTC Asia 2016 has been a brilliant four days, buzzing with meaningful conversations – both from the conference and exhibition arena".

Reflecting the theme of this year’s event; Excellence in Asia , he continued, “Asia s achievements, aspirations and important technological developments with perspectives from within and outside of the oil and gas industry were discussed in depth".

Dato Wee Yiaw Hin, Executive Vice President and CEO, Upstream, Petronas played a pivotal role in bringing OTC to Asia and establishing OTC Asia as the region’s premier offshore event. This long-standing and constant support was recognised in a special presentation during the closing ceremony.

OTC Asia 2016 featured two dynamic plenaries, ten engaging panels, 18 cutting-edge special sessions and country briefings, a strong multidisciplinary technical programme, an exhibition encompassing 7,200 m2, and three exciting new components focusing on education and technology recognition – The Next Wave, High School STEM and Spotlight on New Technology Awards. PETRONAS was the exclusive Corporate Supporting Organisation for the event.

The third edition of OTC Asia is scheduled in Kuala Lumpur between March 20th and 23rd 2018.
