Oliver Loebel Takes the Reigns as EurEau Secretary General

25.10.2016

EurEau welcomed Oliver Loebel as its new Secretary General on Monday 3 October. He will be based at the EurEau secretariat in Brussels.

Oliver joins the water sector from the polyurethane insulation sector, where he was Managing Director for PU Europe for eight years. Before this, he worked as director for sector policy at the European SME association UEAPME and represented the building services contractors at European level through CEETB. Oliver worked with the European Commission between 1994-97, developing support measures for Europe s skilled crafts and trades and small enterprises.

Speaking about his appointment, Mr Loebel said that “Moving in to the water sector presents many exciting opportunities. There are plenty of challenges that need to be met: access to water, water quality and managing our resources effectively are just some of these. Given that the European Commission will review the EU water policy in the next few years, this is the right time to take advantage of the momentum and lead the organisation in shaping water legislation now and for future generations.”

One of Oliver’s first tasks will be overseeing the EurEau report and recommendations on building a resilient water sector which will be submitted to COP22 in November.
