MCE – The Evolution of Thermal Comfort Systems in Buildings on Stage

Mostra Convegno Expocomfort

Milan, 12nd December 2017 – Preparations are in full swing for the 41st edition of MCE - Mostra Convegno Expocomfort, the world’s leading biennial exhibition for residential and industrial installations, air-conditioning and renewable energies scheduled for 13 - 16 March 2018 at Fiera Milano. So far, MCE 2018 has registered an attendance of over 1,600 exhibitors, 43% of whom coming from 52 countries, with a rise in the number of exhibiting companies from Turkey, Egypt and India, Country Guest for this year’s edition, occupying an impressive 92% of halls. MCE 2018 will be running for the first time simultaneously alongside BIE – Biomass Innovation Expo dedicated to wood-fuelled biomass heating systems.

A wide range of products and new features in store that span all industry sectors will once again be on offer: Heating, Hardware, Tools, Air-conditioning, Refrigeration, Ventilation, Water Treatment, Renewable Energies, Home & Building Automation and electric mobility. MCE 2018 represents a unique opportunity for more than 150,000 professional operators from all over the world to discover personally the top technology trends in this continuously evolving industry.

The concept behind this edition is technological innovation, meaning, in particular, the digitalisation of products and processes, and the integration of the electric and thermal energy systems, and of conventional and renewable energy sources. Cutting-edge systems to ensure adequate air quality, comfort, and energy saving and resource optimisation for the built environment need: from an individual residence to a block of flats, from a warehouse to shopping malls.

Energy efficiency in the industry will be, of course, one of the key driving forces behind MCE – Mostra Convegno Expocomfort 2018. Over the past few years, the attention of industrial operators to the control on energy consumption has dramatically increased in energy-intensive sectors, and now, it requires a more structural and organic approach. A focus on improving energy efficiency has led to increased investment levels in renewables, as emerges from the data of a research commissioned by MCE – Mostra Convegno Expocomfort and undertaken by Energy & Strategy Group of the Polytechnic University of Milan on: “Energy efficiency in primary and tertiary industries and the use of woody biomass in the residential sector”.

Two scenarios for investment in energy efficiency measures in primary and tertiary industries were modelled: the first scenario for an economic situation similar to the present one, predicts an increase in new investments by € 7.20 billion in 2017, and is expected to rise to € 9 billion by 2020, with a compound annual growth rate of 8% reaching nearly € 32 billion. The second and more optimistic scenario, assumes a rise to € 10.60 billion by 2020, with a compound annual growth rate of 14% to a value of nearly € 35 billion.
