Lewa Wins the 2014 Global Connect Award

The prize was awarded as part of a ceremonial evening reception with about 1,000 guests on November 4, 2014 by Dr. Nils Schmid, Member of State Parliament, Minister-President pro tem, and Minister for Finance and the Economy of Baden-Württemberg. In the two other categories of "Global Player" and "Newcomer", Ziehl-Abegg, a leading company in ventilation and drive technology, and Wellness factory took the prize from among the field of those nominated. G. Lufft measurement and control technology got the most votes for the Visitors’ Award.

The award honors midsized companies that are internationally active and have outstanding performance to show. The seven-person jury, made up of one representative each from BDI (Federal association of German Industry), DIHK (Association of German Chambers of Commerce and Industry), Germany Trade & Invest, BW International GmbH, IHK Stuttgart (Chamber of Industry and Commerce), Handwerk International Baden-Württemberg and the local global GmbH, explained their reasons deciding on Lewa GmbH with the growth that Lewa has achieved especially in export business due to high product quality and strong customer focus over the last years.

In the area of metering and process pumps, metering systems, and systems for fluid metering, Lewa has been setting benchmarks for decades when it comes to safety and reliability while simultaneously keeping lifetime costs low. The Leonberg pump and system manufacturer delivers to 85 countries around the world, especially to the United States, Singapore, China, and the United Arab Emirates. The company s exports in 2013 made up ca. 90 percent of sales which came to a total of 217 million Euros. Stefan Glasmeyer, Managing Director of Lewa GmbH, who accepted the prize for Lewa, sees this as a confirmation of the company s strategy over the past few years. "Since most of our customers, especially those in oil and gas and the process industry, are themselves globally active, we ve developed a differentiated concept to ensure that our products, systems, and services are also available throughout the world," explains Glasmeyer. In the core regions, Lewa has built its own subsidiaries that also have certified services and shops. Other countries are covered by sales representatives, for whom training is offered regularly. Special Competence Centers have also been set up at the Lewa subsidiaries in important regions, through which sales can be supported locally. Lewa subsidiary companies have also become decentralized system design centers in strategically important areas, purchasing pumps from the central factory in Leonberg and integrating them into plug-and-play systems for customers based on their own planning.
