GEA Appoints Kai Becker CEO of its Refrigeration Technologies Division

The international technology company GEA moved into its new corporate headquarters in the “maxfrei” urban district in Düsseldorf-Derendorf. GEA previously occupied three buildings in Düsseldorf’s Airport City. Bringing all central functions and parts of the divisional and country organizations under one roof marks an important step toward greater cross-functional collaboration, shorter distances, and a corporate culture built on dialogue, personal responsibility, and openness.

GEA has supplied six GEA biosolids Decanter prime 8000 dewatering decanters for the West Delta Wastewater Treatment Plant in Egypt. The state-of-the-art wastewater treatment plant can treat up to 7,5 million cubic meters of sewage sludge daily. According to the Guinness Book of Records, this makes it the largest in the world in terms of size and treatment capacity.

GEA recently unveiled its Mission 30 Group strategy at a Capital Markets Day. The comprehensive plan details how GEA will continue to drive profitable growth and significantly expand the company’s share of sustainable solutions until 2030. AI-supported processes and new business models will play an increasingly important role in achieving this.

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Axel Stepken, CEO of TÜV SÜD Stiftung, will stand for election by shareholders as a new member of the Supervisory Board of GEA Group Aktiengesellschaft at the Annual General Meeting on April 30, 2024. In the event of his election, the Supervisory Board has appointed him as a member of the Supervisory Board’s Presiding and Sustainability Committee.

EA has won the MMK Award of Excellence in the “Sustainability” category for the introduction of the Add Better ecolabel. This designates innovative GEA solutions that are significantly more resource-efficient than their predecessors.

GEA is investing EUR 18 million (USD 20 million) in a technology center for alternative proteins in the state of Wisconsin, USA. The new food tech hub will pilot microbial, cell-based and plant-based foods.
