Allweiler Elevates the Status of Stators

22.09.2008

Allweiler AG is moving its stator production from Hamburg to Bottrop. By September, the Bottrop plant will produce all stators used in its progressing cavity pumps.

New machinery and accelerated production procedures will further optimize production.

Moving stator production to this city in Germany s North Rhine-Westphalia region will shorten transport times because the company s progressing cavity pumps are also built here. Allweiler took this opportunity to invest in cutting-edge machinery and optimized production procedures. They are very fortunate that all employees will come to Bottrop with them, so the production team s know-how and experience will remain intact.

This is important because the stators are produced from a variety of different elastomers and must be carefully adjusted to the exact pumping task and liquid. Precise adaptation is essential for the pumps to stay in service for an extended period of time without maintenance and unacceptable wear. In addition to five standard qualities, another fourteen are needed for special pumping tasks. They represent approximately 20% to 30% of the 10,000 progressing cavity pumps that are delivered every year.

In 2005, Allweiler AG took over part of New-York Hamburger Gummi-Waaren Compagnie AG in order to produce its own stators. The purchase ensures that these important components are always produced according to their high quality standards. Now Allweiler has rapid and reliable access to even uncommon material combinations and dimensions.

"Moving to Bottrop gives us the ability to deliver within 48 hours if necessary," according to Dr. Ernst Raphael, director of the Bottrop business segment.

In-house production makes the most sense because of the need for individualized adaptations to materials and dimensions. For Allweiler, "Made in Germany" is simply the best way to quickly and reliably produce the parts they need.
