At the invitation of NRW.Invest and Business Metropole Ruhr, a number of senior representatives from German and Chinese companies came together for the online event “Business Innovation Platform China”. While the main focus was on economic development and innovative future strategies, the topic of so-called Smart Urban Areas, which are growing in importance as China’s metropolitan areas grow rapidly, was also high on the agenda.
Jens Dallendörfer, Senior Vice President Sales Region Emerging Markets of the Wilo Group, took part in a panel discussion as part of this event. “In these challenging times in particular, our credo of “thinking globally, acting locally” takes on even greater significance. In the future, China will play an even more crucial role for the Wilo Group. That is why we’re investing in a new production site in the country and are setting up our second global headquarters for the Wilo Group,” explains Jens Dallendörfer.
The event was held in a digital format due to the current pandemic situation. A virtual welcome address by Andreas Pinkwart, Minister of Economic Affairs for the region of North-Rhine Westphalia, was followed by a short keynote speech delivered by Wei Duan, Director of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Germany.
The Wilo Group has operated successfully out of China since 1995 and currently maintains two production sites in Beijing and Qinhuangdao as well as 16 sales offices nationwide.
