Following a successful Asian debut last year, the Mostra Covegno Expocomfort (MCE) Asia exhibition will return for a second edition in Singapore. To be held from 7 to 9 September at the Marina Bay Sands Expo & Convention Centre, the exhibition will have a renewed focus on increasing efficiency and reducing wastage and energy use in the heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVAC-R) sector, plumbing technology, sanitary accessories and renewable energy equipment.

The global HVAC equipment market is expected to expand at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 5.6 percent from 2015 to 2022, exceeding US$125 billion by 2022. One of the key drivers for this growth is the increase in construction activities. In Asia Pacific alone, construction activities accounted for 51 percent of the market share last year, and is expected to grow at a CAGR of 7 percent through 20221.

With rapid developments in the residential, commercial, and industrial sectors, new constructions have heightened the demand for energy efficient HVAC-R systems to improve building efficiency. This would also align buildings with the Building Construction Authority’s (BCA) legislation, which mandates the submission of periodic energy audits, ensuring that a building’s cooling system operates efficiently throughout its lifespan. The increased efficiency is not only beneficial to the environment, it can also generate more cost savings for building owners and businesses.

“We are excited to be participating in MCE ASIA for the first time, and be able to share our piping system solutions to improve water usage efficiency and to interact with our industry peers,” said Jo Lim, Ad. Interim GM of George Fischer Pte Ltd. “It is crucial that we continually innovate and find new solutions to ensure the built environment remains healthy, safe and affordable for generations to come. There is a lot of potential with our products which offer green solutions to the cooling, water and energy market – ensuring environmental friendliness, resource efficiency and durability”.

HVAC systems consume between 40 to 50 percent of a building’s total energy2 so there is an immediate need to increase awareness of how internal systems contribute significantly to a building’s efficiency. Much attention has been placed on the building’s façade and infrastructure in a bid to reduce carbon emissions and it is crucial to shift the focus to a holistic approach in the support of a healthier building ecosystem.

Spearheading conversations around internal building systems, MCE ASIA 2016 provides a platform where exhibitors aim to raise the bar on increasing efficiency of internal building conditions. Furthermore, with advances in monitoring systems, intelligent technologies and the integration of the Internet of things (IoT), these will serve to spur the growth of the HVAC-R market.

Targeted at specialised building professionals within the residential, commercial, industrial, institutional and hospitality sectors, and professionals, visitors to MCE ASIA can expect extensive product offerings from Canada, Germany, Italy, Japan, and Korea.

The diverse mix of international and regional exhibitors will showcase various advanced technologies and solutions around four main themes: Cooling, Water, Renewable Energy and Heating. A snapshot of the exhibitors list that visitors can expect across the various verticals include: BELIMO Actuators Limited, Daikin Airconditioning (Singapore) Pte Ltd, Deos Control Systems GmbH, ebm-papst SEA Pte Ltd, Reflex Winkelmann GmbH, and SMARDT Chillers Pte Ltd, and they will be joined by new exhibitors such as Ariston Thermo Pte Ltd, Eura Drives Europe GmbH, Giacomini spa, Intertecnica Italy/ik-interklimat, George Fischer Pte Ltd, JVL Engineering Pte Ltd and Spazio Italia, an Italian collective curated by ICE-Agenzia.

Louise Chua, Project Director and Business Development Director, Reed Exhibitions, organiser of MCE ASIA 2016, said, “The immediate threats of climate change brings about an urgency to create sustainable living and working environments, which requires efficient HVAC-R systems and a collective participation from our communities. We want to continue to spark conversations and ride on this momentum for a greater exchange of ideas and information for our industry.”

Movers and shakers convene at Mostra Xchange

A rich line-up of industry experts will be sharing their insights and findings on a range of topics pertinent to the advancement of industry practices and new technologies at Mostra Xchange. Visitors can attend seminars on how to harness data to increase efficiency in buildings, creating ‘win- win-win’ green-financing solar models and how circadian lighting is crucial to the maintenance of an individual’s health and well-being.

“Having exhibited in both MCE Italy and MCE ASIA, we have experienced first-hand benefits that such a platform brings to the community,” said Uwe Sigloch, Head of Market Management VAC, ebm- papst GmbH & Co.KG, Germany. “Mostra Xchange further facilitates a dynamic setting for conversations between industry experts and business owners. Only through such open dialogues we are able to maintain healthy working relationships within the entire supply chain network, continue the pursuit of energy efficient systems and lobby for standardization of green requirements across industries.”

MCE ASIA 2016 will be held as one of the anchor events of the Singapore Green Building Week (SGBW), and co-located with the Build Eco Xpo (BEX) Asia 2016. Into its ninth edition, BEX Asia 2016 will continue its focus as a platform to further the exchange of ideas and information for sustainable building technologies.

Through BEX and MCE ASIA 2016, more than 450 exhibiting companies are expected to be present to a strong congregation of 12,000 trade visitors. More than 300 business meetings, exceeding US$125 million in business transactions, are expected to take place between industry decision-makers, consultants, manufacturers and distributors.

Also taking place alongside these two anchor events is the International Green Building Conference (IGBC) organised by the Building and Construction Authority of Singapore (BCA). Together, the three key events will form a synergistic advocacy of ideas to encourage collaboration and learning, ultimately contributing to a greener and more sustainable environment.
