Technology companies Microsoft and Apple have been recognised alongside Martens Brewery and utilities Thames Water and Severn Trent Water as recipients of the Lighthouse Awards 2024, presented to organisations leveraging innovation to protect and enhance water supplies globally. Launched in 2020 by the Brave Blue World Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to scientific and educational storytelling, the Lighthouse Awards identify pioneers who have shone a path to water resilience and security for others to follow. They have developed new ways of using technology in collaboration to reduce their impact in water stressed regions or build resilience in local water systems.

PLEUGER, a pioneer in the manufacture of submersible motors and pumps, is celebrating its 95th anniversary this July. Founded in Berlin in 1929, PLEUGER has been based in Hamburg since 1945 and in Hamburg Wandsbek on Friedrich-Ebert-Damm since 1951.

She is still active in the company, travels to manager meetings and welcomes guests, such as the Governor of the US state of Virginia recently. Valmet published on February 19, 2024, that Valmet’s Board of Directors has appointed Thomas Hinnerskov President and CEO of Valmet. Thomas Hinnerskov will assume the role of Valmet’s President and CEO on August 12, 2024. He succeeds Pasi Laine, who will continue as the President and CEO of Valmet until August 11, 2024.

Xylem is expanding its sustainability commitments with new 2030 water stewardship goals, following the company’s combination with Evoqua. Xylem’s 2030 goals include enabling its customers to reduce global water demand by at least 2 billion cubic meters, reducing the company’s own water intensity by 30%, and gaining visibility into the water intensity of its supply chain through water stewardship reporting and practices.

Xylem Inc. will unveil its multi-year growth strategy and set out its long-term financial framework at its Investor Day. Xylem President and CEO Matthew Pine and other senior leaders will provide an update on the Company’s plans to drive above-market growth, accelerate margins through business simplification, and provide an update on capital allocation priorities.
