“The potential of many existing biogas plants has not yet been exhausted. With efficient components such as reliable and powerful pumping technology and innovative processes for substrate treatment, operators are able to reduce costs, increase gas yields and thus increase the profitability of the plant,” says Harald Vogelsang, Managing Director of Vogelsang.

CC series: high performance with convenient service

Reliable and service-friendly pumps are indispensable for economical biogas plant operation, since they bring fluid substrates and mashed solid matter in the form of highly viscous suspensions into the digesters or recirculate low-viscosity material. The QuickService concept of Vogelsang s CC series progressive cavity pumps simplifies maintenance work, as neither the suction nor the discharge side piping has to be dismounted. This reduces the time required to change spare parts significantly – even on large progressive cavity pumps with capacities of up to 300 m³/h. The rotor and stator can be replaced as a unit or individually one after the other, as well as the sealing if required. Long downtimes, which hinder continuous and smooth biogas plant operation are thus avoided. Besides the increased service convenience of the robust CC series, Vogelsang is also presenting the extended model range with its numerous features and options as well as application options.

Higher gas yield due to efficient disintegration

Furthermore, Vogelsang presents the optimized DisRuptor. This system for mechanical disintegration ensures efficient preparation of substrates rich in structure and can be individually adapted to the respective application and substrate. The power requirements of the DisRuptor are reduced by the further developed functional unit. Due to its high throughput and flexible concept, the Innovation Award winning system is ideally suited for biogas plants that ferment many fibrous and rich in structure substrates such as dung, (maize) straw and landscape conservation material. The throughput of up to 80 m³/h with viscous organic suspension in combination with only 15 kW installed drive power make disintegration with the DisRuptor highly economical. “Thanks to the low operating costs per m³ of disintegrated substrate, the investment in substrate preparation using DisRuptor pays off within a short time,” says Vogelsang Sales Manager Markus Liebich.

Furthermore, the Vogelsang experts are showing the XL version of their BioCrack II system for electrokinetic disintegration. The new version features a reinforced field as well as a larger cross section of the housing. This allows higher flow rates (max. 200 m³/h) or suspensions of higher viscosity (70 m³/h at 15% DS) to be treated.

Biogas 4.0: control system for networked biogas plant operation

As a partner of the biogas sector, Vogelsang not only offers machines and systems, but also the Performance Control Unit (PCU) – a control technology for efficient and largely autonomous system operation. The ProfiNet connection and OPC-UA interface of the new generation allows individual components to be networked quickly and easily with the existing control. Platform-independent communication from machine to machine (M2M) as well as between human and machine via the human machine interface (HMI) is also possible. The PCU s easy-tounderstand HTML user interface with visual operating elements and intuitive user guidance ensures that the user can quickly and easily view operating data and edit parameters; directly on site or via remote control. Besides the capacity of the individual units, the control system monitors additional parameters, identifies faults early and fully rectifies them automatically in early stages. The PCU thus ensures efficient plant operation.
