valantic Optimizes Supply Chain Management at SEEPEX

11.04.2022
SEEPEX GmbH is modernizing production planning together with the supply chain experts from valantic. By optimizing supply chain processes and implementing the advanced planning & scheduling (APS) software wayRTS (real time simulation) at the company headquarters in Bottrop, the company has already reduced throughput and delivery times and increased planning quality significantly.

Subsequently, wayRTS was successfully implemented for the planning of stator production at the US plant in Enon, Ohio. A new tool planning component was also developed together to be able to map the complex restrictions of tool, machine, and raw material planning in the detailed concept. The launch of wayRTS at the SEEPEX plant in Shanghai is planned for the coming year 2023.

SEEPEX is the world’s leading pump technology specialist, offering progressive cavity pumps, pump systems, and digital solutions. The company’s products are used wherever low- to high-viscosity, corrosive, or abrasive media are conveyed with low pulsation.

The collaboration between SEEPEX and valantic began as early as 2015 with the introduction of a central tool for planning and controlling the order and production level of component and pump production at the Bottrop site. Today, customer orders can be planned realistically and according to the desired date, bottlenecks in the order network can be visualized, and solutions simulated. valantic’s process and IT consulting experts implemented the APS software wayRTS (Real Time Simulation), which replaced inadequate planning with Excel and SAP. The pump specialist’s planning organization was rearranged, efficient processes and transparency for all parties involved in orders were introduced.

Detailed planning takes all restrictions into account
At the Enon plant (Ohio/USA), wayRTS now handles all rough and detailed planning for controlling component production on the order and production level. Expansion to pump production and the entire order network is planned for this year. One of the goals: To replace the risks and limitations of an Excel world developed in-house that provides only an incomplete connection to SAP. With improved “tool planning” in wayRTS, planners can now map in detail the capacity calculation of production tools with all their complex restrictions and raw material planning.

“We have not only become extremely precise and reliable when promising delivery dates, wayRTS is now our “appointment master” and we have achieved unprecedented transparency and calm in the planning process. If bottlenecks occur, we can find solutions very efficiently thanks to the good visualization of the planning status and simulations,” says Aike Böhm, Head of Order Management Pump at SEEPEX GmbH “Our previous project work with valantic was always consistently positive. We appreciate the valantic team’s commitment, team ability, cost-efficiency, and openness.”

“We are confident that, after a Covid-19-related postponement, we will be able to help SEEPEX with another project in Shanghai over the next year. Here too, the introduction of wayRTS is planned in order to map the entire order network,” says Andreas Schulz, Senior Managing SAP Consultant at valantic.
