Sundyne Sealless No-Leak Pumps Find New Use In Chemical Weapons Disposal

10.01.2014

Sundyne recently won a contract to provide Ansimag sealless, non-metallic magnetic drive pumps to the United States Military for use in their mobile Explosive Destruction System (EDS) program at the Aberdeen Proving Grounds.

With the current drive to disarm highly toxic chemical weapons arsenals around the world, these EDS units are taking on an increasingly important role in disposal operations.

Built to rigorous ASME / ANSI standards for pumps used in chemical and hydrocarbon processing, Sundyne Sealless magnetic drive pumps offer an ideal fluid handling solution for applications involving dangerous chemicals. These pumps are compact, reliable, do not leak and feature an elastomer lined interior that is designed to withstand the highly caustic nature of chemical agents.

"When you are dealing with lethal chemical weapons, you can t afford any emissions, leaks or failures," explained Sundyne President Jeff Wiemelt. "Our sealless magnetic drive pumps have already been in reliable use for years, handling hazardous materials around the world where personnel and environmental safety are of critical importance every day."

The US Military s EDS unit has been used in the destruction of numerous chemical armaments in the U.S. since their initial implementation in 2001. Sundyne Sealless non-metallic drive pumps are critical to the process, providing air tight performance that protects military personnel, civilians and the environment without exception.
