The mining and metals industry plays a critical role in supporting global progress. From consumer electronics and agriculture to infrastructure and transportation, modern society depends on a secure and sustainable supply of minerals. This dependence is growing as the world accelerates toward an energy transition, requiring large volumes of critical raw materials such as copper, lithium, and rare earth elements.

From May 5 to 7, 2025, experts from the pump industry met in Graz for the 28th Practitioner Conference. The focus was on solutions for increasing energy efficiency, innovative technologies, and sustainable concepts for industrial applications. The conference demonstrated that pumps are not only central components of technical systems, but also key factors in the transformation toward greater sustainability.

The more different suspensions and solutions are conveyed, the greater the challenges for the pumps. For example, Honeywell Specialty Chemicals GmbH at the Seelze site in Lower Saxony, Germany, had to contend with heavy wear and cost-intensive system downtimes.

Pentair plc announced second quarter 2023 sales of $1.1 billion. Sales were up 2 percent compared to sales for the same period last year. Excluding currency translation, acquisitions and divestitures, core sales declined 7 percent in the second quarter.

Armstrong Fluid Technology has relocated its sales office from Mannheim, Germany, to a larger site in Frankfurt to support the company’s European expansion.
