The online event will tackle the theme of "Closing the Loop - Circular Water Economy" and aims to highlight sustainable water management approaches in the face of pressing global challenges, such as climate change. The conference is supported by the Export Initiative for Environmental Protection − GreenTech "Made in Germany" of the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection (BMUV) and the Berlin Senate Department for Economics, Energy and Public Enterprises (SenWEB).
Participants will have the opportunity to engage with global experts and discuss innovative water management solutions in a fully online environment. The conference will feature seamless streaming of panel discussions, keynote speeches, and break-out sessions, along with interactive networking opportunities. The 2023 BLUE PLANET edition promises a mix of thought leadership, academic insights, and industry best practices. Stakeholders, researchers, and enthusiasts are encouraged to register early and help spread the word about this insightful event.
The conference will kick off with a keynote presentation on the renowned “WICER” (Water in Circular Economy and Resilience) publication by Anna Delgado of the World Bank, followed by expert presentations on topics such as Industrial Resource Recovery, Nutrient Recovery, and the Water-Energy Nexus. The afternoon schedule will feature a keynote presentation by Daniela Bemfica, Director of Strategic Programmes at IWA, followed by a panel discussion on "Economical Viability & Sustainability" moderated by Dr. Christian Remy from KWB. Parallel break-out sessions on topics like Circular Water Economy Governance, Water Energy Management, and Water Reuse will provide participants with in-depth perspectives on the subject. Leading experts such as Dr. Bettina Rechenberg from UBA and Prof. Sven-Uwe Geissen from TU Berlin will facilitate these discussions. The event will be concluded by Prof. Dr. Phoebe Koundouri, associated with the "Water Future" Project, who is Director of ReSEES Laboratory at the School of Economics of the Athens University of Economics and Business. She is a pioneer in innovative, human-centric, interdisciplinary systems for the sustainable interaction between nature, society, and the economy.
This digital conference, conducted in English, is open to an international audience and free of charge. It will take place from 12:00 to 17:00 (CET).
