Design expertise can optimize the performance and reliability of pumps, turbines, compressors and generators. Sulzer offers independent maintenance services to all areas of industry with specialist support for rotating equipment throughout Latin America, including Buenos Aires.

Repair and maintenance support for large rotating equipment is essential to minimize downtime and promote reliability. At Sulzer, highly experienced engineering staff create repair solutions for the refurbishment of existing parts and with specialized coating knowledge, higher corrosion resistance and lifetime extension is achieved.

On-site support
Sulzer offers comprehensive support for all rotating equipment in the power generation, petrochemical and oil and gas sectors. Field service teams are available to provide expert technical support in conjunction with well-equipped service centers.

In Buenos Aires, engineering teams provide turnkey solutions for rotating equipment from all manufacturers. For turbines, that includes vanes, liners, injectors, transition pieces and others. In addition, there is a team equipped with specialist tools that can apply thermal barrier coatings and anti-corrosion materials for prolonged durability.

Sulzer regularly provides maintenance services to refineries to improve reliability and performance. In one such example, the service center in Buenos Aires repaired a forty-year-old boiler feed pump with a short repair schedule to minimize downtime for the refinery customer. The overhaul involved casing repairs, replacement of the pump rotor shaft, rebalancing and hydro testing.
Throughout the project, the customer visited the service center to review progress and discuss possible solutions for both the pump under repair and a similar unit still in operation. Based on the findings of the repair project, Sulzer developed preventative maintenance procedures to improve the performance and reliability of the pumps in the future.

Comprehensive maintenance solutions
Esteban Obiglio, Commercial Sales Manager, explains: “We have a close relationship with our customers, who enjoy the benefits of all our solutions for pumps, generators, expanders, compressors and turbines. Our expertise is available to customers through our Latin American network of service centers, which benefits many sectors of industry such as power generation, oil and gas, mining and petrochemicals.”

Sulzer’s wide range of global capabilities enables the company to offer localized turnkey solutions that minimize downtime and improve performance. For one gas power station, the facilities of Sulzer in Argentina and Birmingham, UK, combined to rewind a 110 MW generator on site. The project required precision engineering and round-the-clock manufacturing to ensure the deadline was met and downtime minimized for the customer.

For all industries that operate essential pieces of rotating equipment, Sulzer offers comprehensive maintenance contracts that are supported by the company’s global network of service centers and parts manufacturing facilities. By taking advantage of this service, customers can extend the service life of their equipment and reduce downtime as well as running costs.
