It was inaugurated with some 140 guests, including employees, suppliers and partners as well as the German and French ambassadors. A number of local representatives from the city were also present.
The city of Cluj is located in the northwest of Romania. With around 320,000 inhabitants, it is the second largest city in Romania. As a business location, Cluj concentrates primarily on information technology, electrical engineering and mechanical engineering sectors. The city has set up four industrial parks especially for this purpose. Cluj is the university and administrative biggest center after Bucharest, the capital.
The production and servicing of Pfeiffer Vacuum components for vacuum pumps has taken place in Cluj since 2010. Pfeiffer Vacuum s new building is located in the Nervia Industrial Park in Apahida. Highly efficient production processes can be run on 4,300 square meters of production area. “The new building has increased our production and service capacity for turbopump and backing pump components . This is part of our new growth strategy including a global investment program with a volume of EUR 150 million,” said Dr. Eric Taberlet, CEO of Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology AG.
74 employees in Cluj support the workforce at Pfeiffer Vacuum s other production locations. Pascal Fesneau, Administrator at Pfeiffer Vacuum Romania, explained: “It is a privilege for our Romanian team to benefit from this new facility. We are proud to contribute to the success of our company”. The same production and service standards apply in Romania as at Pfeiffer Vacuum’s sites in Germany and France. The new location in Cluj also plays an important role in energy management: the new building and production facilities comply with the latest findings and technologies for optimum use of resources. “With modern machinery and plant technology as well as qualified specialist personnel, we are now even better placed to react flexibly. Quality and flexibility are our top priorities,” added Taberlet.
