New Wilo Pressure Boosting Systems – Safety Under Pressure

It uses a motor that already meets the requirements of EU ErP Directive for 2017. This exceptional generation of motors already far exceeds the most stringent motor efficiency class, IE4. The other components in the pressure boosting system – the electronics and hydraulics – are designed to the same high standards as the motor. The system is VDE and CE certified and meets the KTW, KIWA, ACS and WRAS drinking water guidelines.

Adjustable flexibility saves energy

Wilo-SiBoost Smart Helix Excel is driven by controlled, high efficiency EC motors. One motor is installed for each pump, with a rated power of 2.2 to 3.2 kilowatts, depending on the pump model. You can choose from models with rated flow rates of 4, 6, 10 or 16 m³/h. As the speed of the drive can also be adjusted, Wilo-SiBoost Smart Helix Excel meets all the volume flow requirements without resulting in oversupply or undersupply. This produces electrical energy savings of up to 70% for each individual pump compared to conventional uncontrolled devices, depending on the application. And it pays off: if we look at the costs of a pressure boosting system over its entire service life, energy consumption makes up 85% of life cycle costs compared to the purchasing price and maintenance costs. Since Wilo-SiBoost Smart Helix Excel significantly reduces energy consumption, the product pays for itself after two years in a two-pump system, for example.

Flow-optimised form minimises pressure losses

The hydraulic system is also designed for high efficiency. Hydraulic flow is optimised throughout the system to ensure that pressure losses are much lower than in conventional devices. The three-dimensionally shaped impellers also play a part here: compared to flat vanes, the impellers offer less resistance to the flow of water. Furthermore, the pipes within the pressure boosting system have a new flow-optimised design at their junctions that also minimises pressure loss. All the hydraulic components are made of stainless steel, giving them excellent corrosion protection.

Intuitive operation makes pump management easier

The electronic components for Wilo-SiBoost Smart Helix Excel are also highly efficient. As a broad-based system, it can be adapted to meet the specific features of any building s water installations. Its controls are optimised for smooth pump management: the clear menu structure enables intuitive operation of the controls and direct navigation to the main features. The same user interface with an LC display is installed at the control element and on the pumps. As with other Wilo products, the devices are equipped with "red-button technology", designed for quick and easy configuration and status recording. In addition, Wilo-SiBoost Smart Helix Excel can communicate via bus connection to building management systems like LON, MODbus and BACnet.

Safety shapes design

The revolutionary design integrates all the core components of Wilo-SiBoost Smart Helix Excel, taking every safety issue into consideration, and has won the "red dot design". The system is designed for people in every important way: the ergonomically optimised operating elements combined with the user interface are the only area where interaction is required and all setting and operation work is concentrated here. This means it is no longer necessary to physically adjust the mechanics or hydraulics. As a result, the pressure boosting system can be operated quickly, easily and completely safely. New features include the covers for the pressure gauge and pressure sensor, which are integrated into the design. Overall, Wilo-SiBoost Smart Helix Excel is more reliable than comparable models in other product series. The new design highlights what s inside: highly efficient technology ahead of its time.
