New Process to Instrument Valve to EEMUA 182 Design Conformance

16.11.2021
Parker Hannifin has launched its latest process to instrument valve that fully conforms to EEMUA 182. The new range of EP Series Pro-Bloc valves, manufactured at its globally recognised, lean model plant in Barnstaple, Devon in the UK, has a double block and bleed function and consists of two separate isolating balls and one vent in a single unit. The valve is also available in a block and bleed arrangement.

The EEMUA 182 standard covers integral block and bleed valve manifolds for direct connection to pipework, used as a replacement for individual block and bleed valves at tapping points in piping systems and also in larger arrangements for equipment and main process isolation and is a requirement for many customers.

Used primarily in upstream and downstream oil and gas applications, the valve’s single piece construction offers space and weight saving benefits over the traditional method of using three separate valves fabricated to create double block and bleed for process control.

The EP Series Pro-Bloc features a 5mm bleed hole to prevent plugging, a blowout proof stem to prevent catastrophic failure as well as cavity relief on seats for over-pressure protection of the ball cavity. The packing adjustment nut under the valve lever allows removal of handle without compromising packing integrity. These features all lead to an increase in performance, reliability, and safety.

Product Manager, Jim Breeze states: “The EP series is designed to the EEMUA 182 design code giving the operator and owner assurance of a valve designed to sound engineering practices. The development of this valve is a significant step forward in the design of traditional process to instrument valves, and a commitment to the market that Parker is a lead supplier in process instrumentation products and solutions.”
