New Energy-Saving Swimming Pool Recirculation Pumps

At the beginning of 2010, KSB Aktiengesellschaft will launch its Filtra N pump series: the latest generation of KSB’s swimming pool recirculation pumps.

The new, self-priming close-coupled pumps can recirculate up to 36 cubic metres of swimming pool water in an hour. The maximum head is around 21 meters.

The shaft of the new pump is not in contact with the fluid handled as the impeller fully encases the shaft end. The impeller is directly screwed to the shaft rather than being fastened with a screw outside the impeller, which could corrode and lead to the impeller becoming loose.

A pin between the rotating ring of the mechanical seal and the impeller prevents the rotating ring from gluing to the stationary part. This means that the mechanical seal won‘t be blocked when the pump is started up after prolonged shutdown periods. This makes the pump more reliable and protects the motor against water ingress.

Thanks to the enhanced electromagnetic properties of the new shaft material the energy input of the low-noise motors has been reduced by 15 percent compared to the previous model. The energy consumption is lowered further by the increased hydraulic efficiency of the newly designed diffuser.

The transparent lid makes helps check the contamination level of the filter basket. The filter basket is quite large at a volume of about 1330 cm3. Cleaning is made easy as the filter basket comes with a fold-out handle and can simply be pulled out of the housing. To open the pre-filter the customer is supplied with a special easy-to-use lever, so that no unsuitable tools are used and personal injury or damage to the filter housing are prevented.

The casing is made of corrosion-resistant plastic material and equipped with two screwed plugs to allow draining of the water if there is any danger of freezing.

A visually attractive packaging in a cardboard box with a photo and technical product data makes it easy for distributors who keep stock to identify the product and to present the pump set to any potential buyers.
