The idea for Kick & Fun was born in 2020 – a year in which popular sports came to a near standstill due to the coronavirus pandemic. Many children were no longer able to pursue their hobbies, social contacts broke away, and even professional sports came to a halt. For professional footballer Richard Neudecker, one thing was clear: He wanted to make the most of these special circumstances. Together with his brother Tobias and friend Daniel Häusler, he founded the initiative to offer children not only exercise, but also community and perspective.
The football camps are open to all children, regardless of their background, gender, physical abilities or financial circumstances. The aim is to break down prejudices and strengthen teamwork through shared sporting activities. In collaboration with various social institutions, eight of the 40 camps will take place this year in facilities for children with physical or mental disabilities. In addition to sports training, another focus is on nutrition. Children learn playfully about the importance of a healthy lifestyle and how they can positively influence their own eating habits. The camp also offers a variety of activities: Football darts, shot speed measurement, a final tournament with prizes and many other highlights ensure unforgettable experiences.
To ensure that children from financially disadvantaged families can also participate, NETZSCH is supporting the camp by covering ten participation fees. “We are convinced that companies play an important role in society – not only economically, but also socially. With our support for Kick & Fun, we want to take responsibility and create opportunities where they are urgently needed”, explains Managing Director Jens Heidkötter. The camps are hugely popular: Numerous children have already taken part in this year’s events, helping to further the initiative’s goal of bringing people together through sport and breaking down social barriers.
