Messe München to Launch IFAT Eurasia in 2015

28.03.2013

Messe München International is consistently pursuing its foreign-business strategy and is expanding its exhibition portfolio by adding a new trade fair for environmental technology in Turkey.

The first IFAT Eurasia will take place in Istanbul in the spring of 2015. Messe München is founding a subsidiary to organize this and other events in Turkey. The event organizer is expecting some 200 exhibitors, 12,000 square meters of exhibition space and 7,000 visitors at the event’s premiere. The fair will be held every two years.

Eugen Egetenmeir, Managing Director of Messe München, sees the move as a great opportunity: “Turkey is an emerging market. To satisfy EU environmental guidelines, it plans to invest 53 billion euros between now and 2023 alone. Increasing urbanization, strong economic growth during the last few years and a healthy awareness of sustainability are also promoting expansion of its environmental infrastructure.”

Messe München already organizes two established industry events, i.e. IFAT in Munich, which is the world’s largest trade fair for environmental technology, and IE expo in Shanghai. In addition, the first IFAT India takes place in Mumbai in October 2013.
