The order comprises a total of seven pumps for vertical installation, each driven by a 1350 kW low-speed electric motor. Each pump set has a total weight of 34 tonnes. Three of the seven pumps had already been supplied for the first project phase; these are currently being installed and put into operation in three pumping stations. The maximum flow rate is 20,000 cubic metres per hour, at a head of 18.36 metres.

The “Jaíba” project is conceived for ensuring, in its final phase, water supply to 100,000 hectares of agricultural land in eight Brazilian states, where, besides numerous other agricultural products, mainly bananas, grapes and beans as well as corn are cultivated. The water primarily comes from the rivers São Francisco and Verde Grande as well as Gorutuba.

One of the main reasons for the Brazilian customer to opt for KSB as supplier of the large pumps was KSB’s local expert technical service.
