Mag-Drive Pumps Enable Easy Upgrade to Sealless Pumping
The latest addition to the established range of Viking internal gear pumps is an interchangeable, sealless model which is ideal for pumping hazardous, hard-to-seal liquids, or for applications where very low maintenance is important.

Available through Michael Smith Engineers the Universal Mag Drive Series includes models which provide flows up to 45 M3 /Hr at pressures up to 14 Bar.
These pumps offer a simple solution for upgrading existing conventionally sealed pumps from packings or mechanical seals to a sealless design, thereby eliminating the risks associated with seal failure. This inter-changeability can be achieved without the need for expensive and time-consuming re-piping thanks to multiple port configurations combined with the wide range of sizes that Viking offer.
The pump design also enables short-term dry-run capability and bi-directional operation, without the need for modification or disassembly and so enables filling or emptying using one pump, which helps to minimize system costs.
Other features include, dual thrust control bearings which ensure positive control of rotor position for more accurate flow and also reduces pump wear, an externally adjustable relief valve which can be adjusted while in service when process conditions change, and so maximises process up-time. An adjustable rotor clearance enables high volumetric efficiency, whether pumping thin or viscous liquids.
Also, extended pump life is made possible thanks to Viking’s in-canister bushing and hollow shaft design, while the pump’s construction allows for positive cooling flow which minimizes the potential for thermal product degradation.
Available in cast iron, steel and stainless steel these tough, durable pumps provide the highest level of liquid containment available and are suitable for handling a wide range of liquids. For example, transferring hard to seal liquids such as, isocyanates, sodium hydroxide, adhesives and epoxy resins, also hazardous, reactive liquids such as, volatile organic chemicals, LPG and ammonia. Typical applications include 24/7 operation in refineries, chemical and polymer plants, paper mills or wherever sealless, leak-free and low maintenance pumping is required.
