Thanks to the wide range of variants available with these pumps, nearly all tasks in relation with the hygienic handling of liquid and viscous food can be fulfilled. All pumps belonging to the Vita series have been awarded the certificates common to the industry, such as EHEDG, and their elastomer components conform to FDA standards. Their almost complete lack of dead volume makes them very easy to clean. The pumps’ excellent cleaning and steaming in place (CIP/SIP) capabilities are also promoted by electropolished wetted components and the use of high-grade stainless steels. KSB will also introduce for the first time a special maintenance concept tailored to the hygiene-standard requirements of food pumps.

Since January 2017 the pumps have been available with the IE5-classified KSB SuPremE motor. It meets the requirements of IE5 (IEC/TS 60034-30-2), the highest of energy efficiency classes for variable speed electric motors; compared with IE4, motor losses are reduced by a further 20 percent. Unlike conventional synchronous motors this drive is made without any magnetic materials such as rare earths that are categorised as critical raw materials since their extraction causes severe environmental impacts in their countries of origin.

The pump manufacturer’s app KSB Sonolyzer allows plant operators in the food and beverage industry to check their fixed speed pumps for energy efficiency, the fast and easy way. The app indicates to the user whether optimising the hydraulic system or modifying the drive of the pump set checked can help save energy. KSB Sonolyzer is available for iOS and Android operating systems.

The comprehensive valve range will be represented by the BOA-H type series as an example. Thousands of these shut-off and control valves with manual, electric or pneumatic actuators are being used in heating and cooling circuits in the beverage industry. They are characterised by their energy-saving, flow-optimised hydraulic design.

The Frankenthal-based manufacturer has become the only full-liner worldwide for pumps and valves for almost any pumping task in the beverage industry.
