KNF Introduces New Pump Solutions

23.11.2017

To meet two specific needs of medical device technology, KNF is presenting these new pump series models.

Every series model can be adapted to the requirements of specific applications quickly and inexpensively thanks to KNF’s tried and tested modular system. The flexibility of in-house production makes both large and small production numbers possible.

  • Diaphragm Vacuum Pump N 816:

With its liquid and vacuum pumps, KNF covers all established methods for the transfer of liquid sample waste for professional disposal. The new vacuum pump N 816 is ideal for the indirect method using collecting containers.

In order to supply biological samples for a valid diagnosis, many working steps are required, using a variety of reagents as well as solvents and cleaning agents. After analysis, this mixture consisting of chemicals and the organic materials examined must be removed and transferred for disposal.

    Chemically resistant and humidity resistant

The diaphragm vacuum pump N 816 was developed by KNF especially for the handling of this liquid waste. As it is not possible to predict the chemical composition of the liquid waste, the pump head components that come into contact with the medium are made from the chemically resistant materials PPS, EPDM, PTFE or FFPM. This pump will not be damaged even by constant contact with humidity and condensate.

    Above-average flow rate

This diaphragm pump ensures fast and reliable emptying of the collection containers for liquid waste with a flow rate of 16 l/min and an ultimate vacuum of 100 mbar. Even multiple collecting containers can be emptied with a single pump. Its performance is disproportionately high in relation to its compact size.

    Fully traceable components

This vacuum diaphragm pump is designed to fulfill the traceability requirements of medical devices manufacturers. Among the various types of motor is a brushless DC motor developed in-house by KNF. This ensures comprehensive control of the supply chain and thus full traceability as required.

  • Diaphragm Liquid Pump FL 10:

The new FL 10 diaphragm liquid pump from KNF facilitates the secure transfer of low-viscosity, aggressive and sometimes also volatile liquids. This makes it the ideal pump for handling solvents, acids and alkaline solutions for automated cleaning and disinfection.

Secure transfer of low-viscosity, aggressive cleaning agents

The key feature of the FL 10’s secure design is a sophisticated sideport that creates a reliable hydraulic connection to the purification system. The integrated NC valve function means there is no need for additional non-return valves. This function ensures that when the pump is switched off, the liquid in the line stops moving and does not flow uncontrolled through the pump head. This is the case even when the container with the cleaning agent is positioned upstream of the FL 10. Chemically resistant materials are used for all components in contact with media.

Smooth transfer of volatile cleaning fluids

The FL 10 transfers sensitive media gently. This is made possible by a resonating chamber which is integrated into the pump and absorbs turbulence caused by negative pressure peaks.

Linear and flexible flow rate adjustment

The FL 10’s flow rate of up to 100 ml/min can be linearly controlled by varying the frequency from 0–50 Hz. The priming time is also flexible and can thus be adjusted to correspond precisely to the requirements of the cleaning process over a large range of flow rates.

    Fail-safe and long-lasting operation

The FL 10 is impressively durable. It can maintain its performance through 2 billion strokes and more than 10,000 hours of operation without maintenance – even when handling aggressive liquids. That makes this new diaphragm liquid pump a durable and cost-effective alternative to other pump technologies. This pump’s IP65 protection can withstand even harsh operating conditions involving jets of water, dust and dirt.
