Hydraulic Institute Released Four Updated ANSI/HI Pump Standards

12.01.2015

The Hydraulic Institute (HI) has announced the release of four updated publications: Rotodynamic Centrifugal Pumps for Nomenclature and Definitions, Rotodynamic Vertical Pumps of Radial, Mixed, and Axial Flow Types for Nomenclature and Definitions, Rotodynamic Centrifugal Pumps for Manuals Describing Installation, Operation, and Maintenance and Rotodynamic Vertical Pumps for Manuals Describing Installation, Operation, and maintenance.

Rotodynamic Centrifugal Pumps for Nomenclature and Definitions (ANSI/HI 1.1-1.2-2014) covers rotodynamic pumps with centrifugal (radial), mixed flow, and axial flow impellers, as well as regenerative turbine and Pitot tube type pumps, of all industrial/commercial types except vertically suspended diffuser turbine pumps. It contains description of types, nomenclature, and definitions.

Rotodynamic Vertical Pumps of Radial, Mixed, and Axial Flow Types for Nomenclature and Definitions (ANSI/HI 2.1-2.2-2014) standard is for types, nomenclature, and definitions of vertical turbine, mixed flow, axial flow vertical diffuser, submersible motor deep-well and short-set pumps, commonly defined as vertically suspended rotor types VS0,VS1, VS2, VS3, VS6, VS7, and VS8, as well as vertical overhung impeller types VS4 and VS5 that are driven by vertical electric motors or horizontal engines with right-angle gears.

Rotodynamic Centrifugal Pumps for Manuals Describing Installation, Operation, and Maintenance (ANSI/HI 1.4-2014) standard applies to Installation, Operation and Maintenance manuals for rotodynamic centrifugal pumps, including the following: Overhung impeller, rigidly coupled pumps (OH4), Close-coupled pumps (OH5, OH5A, OH6, OH7, OH8A, and OH8B), Horizontal, flexibly coupled, axial flow, single stage, overhung design (OH00), Overhung impeller, separately coupled pumps (OH0, OH1, OH1A, OH2, OH3, and OH3A), Sealless centrifugal pumps (OH9, OH10, OH11, and OH12), Between-bearing, separately coupled, one- and two-stage pumps (BB1 and BB2), Between-bearing, separately coupled, multistage pumps (BB3, BB4, and BB5), Vertically suspended, separate discharge (sump), volute style (VS4 and VS5), Regenerative turbine pumps (RT1, RT2, RT3, and RT4), Special-effects pumps (Pitot tube, etc.).

Rotodynamic Vertical Pumps for Manuals Describing Installation, Operation, and maintenance (ANSI/HI 2.4-2014) standard applies to Installation, Operation and Maintenance manuals for rotodynamic (vertical) pumps including the following: Vertical, axial flow, lineshaft (VS3), Vertical, diffuser, deep well (VS1), Vertical, diffuser, short set (VS1), Vertical, diffuser, can-mounted (VS6), Vertical, diffuser, submersible, deep well (VS0), Vertical, diffuser, submersible, short set (VS0), Vertical, diffuser, double casing, in-line, floor mounted (VS8), Vertical, volute, double suction, wet pit (VS2), Vertical, volute, double suction, can type (VS7), Vertical, volute, multistage axial split, can type (VS7a), Vertical, sump, lineshaft (VS4), Vertical, sump, cantilever (VS5).

HI Pump Standards are reliable, widely accepted references for anyone involved in pumps, including users, consultants, contractors, construction firms, manufacturers of pumps, seals, motors, instrumentation, controls, and pump software developers and systems integrators. HI periodically introduces new Standards based on industry needs.
